New Eboard Elected - next meeting 4-13-16

The membership meeting on February 10, 2016 was bittersweet as some D11 Democratic Club Board members stepped down and new Board members stepped up. Most notably, our past president, Brigitte Davila, told us in November that she would not be running for re-election as President of the District 11 Democratic Club. Her duties as City College Trustee and member of the Balboa Reservoir CAC are taking up most of her time. We will miss her and all she brought to the Club. During her tenure she expanded the outreach of the Club considerably and brought the Club into the 21st Century with "new-fangled" innovations such as a Club logo and brand, social media platforms, streamlined Club email and a website (The one you are now reading!). She also diversified the Club in terms of age and ethnicity. Last, but not least, she brought back old-fashioned precinct walking with our slate information, further raising the profile of the Club.  Roger Underhill also left the Board this year. He served in one of the Member-At-Large positions for several terms as a stalwart supporter of the Club and always present at Board and Club events. Roger is a volleyball referee and, sadly, his Wednesdays and Saturdays are now off limits and that prevents him from continuing on in this role. Thank you also to Claire Zvanski who will be retiring as our past-president. We will miss them all, but hope they will still be around as active members.

Our new Club President is Nadia Conrad from the Ney-borhood in the Excelsior. Nadia previously held the office of S.F. D11 Democratic Club treasurer and successfully steered us through a random audit by the S.F. Ethics Committee. She works as a Teen Programs Coordinator at Jamestown Community Center and previously worked in former Assemblymember Tom Ammiano's office. Before that, she worked with Emerge CA, an organization that prepares and supports women to run for elected office.  Nadia is uniquely prepared to take the helm of the Club and we are so happy she stepped up. Mary Harris-Vice-President, Al Harris-Member-at-Large, and Mary Goodnature-Parliamentarian kept their previous positions and will serve new terms. Thank you Mary, Al and Mary for your continued service. Brand new member Chris Corgis will take on the duties of Secretary. Excelsior District members Mel Flores and Mario Flores (no relation) were elected as Member-At-Large and Treasurer, respectively. Good luck to the new Board and thank you to the old Board for all your work.

As you know, this is a big year for our District 11 Democratic Club and there are plenty of Club endorsements to go around for the Primary Election on June 7, 2016 and the General Election on November 8, 2016. Our Wednesday, April 13 meeting at the Ingleside Police Station Community Room (6:30pm) will be dedicated to endorsements for the June Primary, particularly the DCCC endorsements and the ballot initiatives. We will also discuss proposed changes to the bylaws and a bylaws committee. Please attend - your vote counts! Refreshments provided.  Go to the Calendar to RSVP

Good writeup on us and the club. One correction, although my volleyball programs and business does affect many of my Wednesdays, it doesn’t limit my Saturdays.
